As part of Enterprise Cloud Services the Cloud Infrastructure Services team is SAP's Cloud Infrastructure provider and is responsible for running SAP’s backend technology including operations of state of the art data centers around the globe. Enterprise Cloud Services - Cloud Infrastructure Services unit acts in a shared services mode for internal SAP customers across all Board Areas is one important pillar of SAP’s strategy.

The Data Center Operations unit within Cloud Infrastructure Services is the shared service unit providing services within all SAP’s Data Centers: IMAC-D services, hardware maintenance, asset management, supplier coordination.


The senior Data Center Engineer will work within SAP’s Cloud Data Center Operations Team. The Data Center Engineer part of a global team and is the overall responsible for a Data Center Location. The responsibilities for this position may include some or all of the following:

  • Responsible for the effective operation and orchestration of all build, run and support activities and projects in the Data Center

  • Projectlead, controll and coordination for upcoming new projects

  • Support of finance and contract management

  • Support and substitute for DCM management

  • Technical knowledge in Compute, Network, Storage

  • Interface and coordination to all external Service Providers/Vendors for Data Center Operations

  • Local responsibility for IMAC-D service

  • Planning & coordination of IMAC-D activities (Compute, Network, Storage)

  • Data quality & reporting

  • Asset management

Required skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Data Center Equipment

  • Advanced knowledge in hardware maintenance

  • Advanced knowledge in Co-Location Management

  • Knowledge in managing project

  • Ability to organize work and complete tasks independently

Preferred skills:

  • Project management skills

  • Basic knowledge of the OSI and TCP/IP model

  • Basic knowledge in copper and fibre cabling structure

  • Flexible, agile, and ability to organize work and complete tasks independently

  • Pro-active driver, team-player, results-oriented, with a can-do attitude

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work proactively and accurately in a busy and demanding environment, adhering to strict deadlines/timescales.

  • Maintains focus and stays in control under stressful and challenging circumstances

  • Organizational and analytical skills

  • Fluent German & English is required


Minimum 10 years of experience in Data Center Operations
