PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The SAP Cloud Platform is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) to manage and develop applications in public and private clouds. It is based on open standards, such as Cloud Foundry and runs on different Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) layers, such as OpenStack, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. In the Cloud Foundry Infrastructure team at SAP we provide the basis to provision and operate the Cloud Foundry based landscapes.

Close collaboration with other teams in Open Source, especially the Cloud Foundry Foundation is a lived practice.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

As junior developer and member of our SAP Cloud Platform organization you will develop and operate the service offerings for Cloud Foundry. Exposure to newest technologies and open-source projects will be your daily life.

Specifically, you will:

  • Bring in your existing cloud expertise with both development and operational topics.

  • Review, integrate, extend, develop and operate various cloud services on various IaaS layers (OpenStack, AWS, Azure and GCP), including Cloud Foundry itself.

  • Work in an agile team applying Scrum, agile development practices and DevOps, thus contributing to team goals, requiring the flexibility and the ability to work on different topics.

  • We are looking for a strong, committed, self-motivated, reliable and analytically skilled team player and proactive networker who leads by example and knowledge.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills

  • A good bachelor or master degree in computer science, natural science or a related technical discipline.

  • Experience in working with Unix/Linux environments and sound knowledge in at least one state of the art programming language.

  • Knowledge of network, internet technologies and distributed systems.

  • Readiness to analyze issues on multiple layers ranging from applications, services to operating system level in the code and at runtime.

  • Goal-oriented team worker with excellent communication skills embracing agile programming practices and pair programming practices.

  • Fluency in German and English.

Preferred skills

  • Experience in using, operating and developing on top of cloud infrastructures and services therein, e.g. with Cloud Foundry, OpenStack, AWS, Azure or GCP.

  • Experience in contributing to open-source products with the will to adopt, use, and contribute to them rather than to reinvent solutions.

  • Knowledge in multiple modern programming languages, e.g. Go, Ruby, Python, Java, JavaScript or the like.

  • Strongly convinced of and experience with test-driven development, continuous integration & delivery, committer/contributor model and pair programming, knowledge in using Git.

  • Working experience with distributed systems.
