PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Ariba MEE is responsible for driving continuous improvement of LOB’s productivity and achieve profitability targets by adopting and implementing standardized shared services processes, services, methodologies and tools. Additionally, the COO is responsible for a direct market unit revenue, and to enable accelerated revenue growth in targeted markets identified as fast growth through the roll out, adoption/ implementation and syndication of standardized shared services processes, services, methodologies and tools.
Provides overall leadership and direction to multi -functional organizations executing within effective and agreed upon governance models and contributing to continuous innovation and cost effective service delivery models.
Primary performance goals include:
Drive regional top line and bottom line growth
Serve as CEO proxy
Direct responsibility of a Regional revenue (e.g. PCN, SME, TBD by region)
Drive Regional synergies w/Regional Field Services, SME/Channels and Solutions/GMT
Adopt automation for efficiency
Eliminate functional duplication
Adapt to evolving business models
Scale for growth
Adopt and syndicate best practices/standards

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The COO manages the operations function for the LOB by integrating current and future customer needs and translating the company’s business and financial objectives into operations goals, programs and projects.
Responsible for the realization of multiple high impact initiatives towards broad corporate goals.
Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with key decision makers internally and externally. Formulates clear operations objectives and strategies and ensures understanding in the organization.
Responsible for the management and advancement of individual contributors and the teams. Focus on facilitating the performance of the teams, setting goals and direction and issue resolution and escalation.
Interpret internal and external business and customer needs and makes changes in policy to align with requirements; responsible for vision of operations group; demonstrated ability to contribute to Line of Business strategy.
Provides appropriate resources and guidance to ensure that team goals are accomplished.
As a people manager, you are responsible for supporting the success of not only your direct reports, but the success of all employees within the larger team you are a part by helping to identify development opportunities and supporting team members to achieve their goals. You are expected to know about the members of your extended team and share insights with your peer managers. Look for opportunities to coach and recognize employees directly and provide just-in-time feedback so that employees can reflect on your input immediately.

Act as a role model by coaching and recognizing your direct reports and providing just-in-time feedback and expecting the same of your direct reports.
Area 1: Strategy to Execution
Coordinates activities to develop a coherent vision around a relevant project and program for unit/area/LoB
Consultations with key stakeholders inside and outside SAP
Identifies and evaluates potential partners and explores the win-win opportunities for a sustainable cooperation
Area 2: Process Definition & Enhancement
Observes and evaluates market trends
Represents SAP in external communities and collaborates with other companies and professional associations
Takes responsibility for driving complex, SAP-wide projects for process improvement
Area 3: Day-to-Day operations
Executes projects and coordinates the team and/or consortium to reach goals on time and on budget. Reports regularly to steering committees and/or external reviewers.
Develops work programs, defines deliverables, timelines and effort to attain the goal; Clarifies dependencies of the related work packages
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
University degree, MBA will be an asset

Solution oriented approach, used to work in complex environment
Excellent communication and networking skills
High level of flexibility and energy, self-starter
Demonstrated success with complex projects
Proven abilities on managing highly complex programs and applying risk-mitigation strategies to internal and external customer
Demonstrated ability to communicate a vision across lines of business.
Business level English: Fluent
15 years software industry experience preferred
10 years leadership and enterprise software sales, 3-5 years leading diverse operations functional organizations
Successful track record of building, leading and retaining diverse, multi-functional high performing sales teams
Record of building strong customer relationships and serving as an executive sponsor for projects/programs
Business strategy planning and Knowledge management
