SAP started in 1972 as a team of five colleagues with a desire to do something new. Together, they changed enterprise software and reinvented how business was done. Today, as a market leader in enterprise application software, we remain true to our roots. That’s why we engineer solutions to fuel innovation, foster equality and spread opportunity for our employees and customers across borders and cultures.

SAP values the entrepreneurial spirit, fostering creativity and building lasting relationships with our employees. We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce keeps us competitive and provides opportunities for all. We believe that together we can transform industries, grow economics, lift up societies and sustain our environment. Because it’s the best-run businesses that make the world run better and improve people’s lives.

The Accelerate Cloud Transformation team enables SAP’s global development organization to create highly innovative and successful products and solutions. We coach and train state-of-the-art lean and agile methodologies, business model innovation, agile software engineering, cloud-native development and continuous delivery.

As part of our activities to increase development productivity, we are developing the next generation tool for SAP’s Application Component Hierarchy management. This is SAP’s backbone for managing code responsibilities and message routing. Therefore, we will work closely with all internal SAP development units globally, SAP’s Support organization and others. Since we implement a new solution “from scratch”, we will create a new scrum team.

We are looking for an (Associate) Developer for our team at SAP in Walldorf, Germany. You will be part of a co-located, cross-functional scrum team – consisting of developers and a product owner supported by UX designers, an UA architect and agile coaches. The team works in a fast-paced and agile environment where ideas become reality, prototypes become products, and product increments are shipped in short cycles.

As a (Associate) Developer, you will focus on the following tasks:

  • You will contribute to the design and implementation of the next generation tool from conception through multiple releases.

  • You will be involved in all phases of the software lifecycle – from the first idea in discovery to development and testing to operations and support with a clear focus on development.

  • You will discover and learn a wide range of agile and lean methodologies supported by experienced agile coaches.

  • You will collaborate with a fun, supportive and highly talented team of product owners, agile development and innovation coaches, designer(s), and engineers, and have close interaction with end users.

  • We take our products and their impact like user experience and quality seriously, but we do not take ourselves too seriously.

  • We are always striving to improve. We are a team that loves to keep learning and getting better at what we do.

Required skills

  • Degree in computer science from university, university of applied sciences or similar field of study and level

  • Strong analytical and logical skills, ability to understand the underlying data model and concepts

  • Very good knowledge of at least one programming language

  • Curiosity towards new technologies

  • Very good team player with goal-oriented working style

  • Very good in English (written and spoken)

  • At least basic understanding of German and willingness to improve

Preferred skills

In general, you do not need to know all the technologies that we are using – but you need to be curious to learn them. We will help you with that by providing trainings and „on the job“-learning. The following experiences and skills are beneficial, but not mandatory.

  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Angular, HTML5 and CSS

  • Experience with databases

  • Experience with SAP Cloud Platform
