PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Cloud Infrastructure Services (CIS) is responsible for running SAP’s backend technology including operations of state-of-the-art data centers and the technical platforms as integral part and foundation for all SAP Cloud solutions and services around the globe.

The Cloud Infrastructure Services unit provides these shared services for SAP’s external Cloud Business and also for SAP’s internal infrastructure such as development, training, or demo landscapes.

Within CIS and among other responsibility, the Infrastructure Build organization is globally responsible to fulfill the demand for Infrastructure capacities in the various Data Centers and hand it over to the consumers of the Infrastructure and to the Infrastructure Run organization. The Infrastructure Build is set up in regional units.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

The Build Validation Manager is globally accountable for the technical validation of all infrastructure builds for a given product line consisting of server, network, storage, back-up and peripheral equipment. He ensures all technical aspects and dependencies are aligned with the stakeholders of the build validation team, technical feasibility and availability of infrastructure is assured, dependable configuration documentation is created and timelines are kept.

The responsibility includes:

  • Ownership of the work center for Infrastructure Build Validation for one or more product line

  • Leading the Build validation process and ensuring timelines (KPIs) are met

  • Accountability for completeness and integrity of the Infrastructure Build Validation deliverables to be handed over to the Order Execution Managers and next Work Center

  • Support the OEM in their role to ensure E2E responsibility of the build process

  • Responsibility to involve all departments required to achieve complete, dependable and repeatable process output

  • Conduct Build validation meetings with the stakeholders

  • Creation of approved configuration documentation for individual builds and locations

  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce validation and overall build times and ensure quality

The role will work closely together with experts from Infrastructure Architecture, Customer Engagement, Data Center Management, Order Execution Management and various other Work Centers within the CIS organization.

The role reports to the Datacenter & Infrastructure Build Manager EMEA.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills:

  • Experience with the methods and tools of product build in IT or other industries

  • Profound background of IT Infrastructure technologies and Infrastructure architectures

  • Datacenter management

  • Network management

  • Compute (Virtualization and bare metal)

  • Backup

  • Storage

  • Strong consumer / customer orientation, high quality of work focus and result / deliverable oriented thinking

  • Ability to achieve results in a globally distributed organization and eagerness to work with people of other cultures – excellent team player

  • Fluent in Business English and German

Preferred skills:

  • Project management certification (eg. PRINCE2, ITIL, PMP)

  • Strong experience with reporting to upper line organization management

  • Very good communication skills

WORK EXPERIE NCE

  • 8 or more years of work experience that preferably include 5 years within IT Infrastructure or other comparable industries (e.g. manufacturing or construction)

  • At min. 5 years of leading product builds in IT Infrastructure or other comparable industries (e.g. manufacturing or construction) or leading complex IT projects as responsible project manager
