Location: South San Francisco, CA

Purpose and Objective: SuccessFactors, Inc. seeks a Development Expert for our South San Francisco, CA office location to be responsible for development focusing on concept, design, coding, testing, quality assurance of complex product features in a development team or responsible for complex product areas.

Expectations and Tasks: Resolve complex issues within own area of expertise and support others in resolving complex issues. Define deliverables and provide advice and recommendations on solutions that may affect future design decisions. Show technical, business and/or methodological leadership. Constantly improve work methods and engineering skills in the team and beyond to establish state-of-the-art agile software engineering practices. Enhance skills beyond own core functional focus and work on other tasks for the benefit of the team. Easily move into new topics. Have expert level and broad overall product and technical knowledge and be recognized internally and externally as a subject matter expert. Have current and in-depth knowledge of industry trends. If acting as Scrum Master in the LEAN context, responsible for ensuring that Scrum is understood and put into practice properly, serve as a "servant-leader" for the Product Owner and the Development Team, facilitate Scrum Events on request or as required, coach the Development Team in self-organization, and remove impediments to the Development Team's progress.

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 7 years of experience, or alternatively, a Master's degree and 5 years of experience.

Work Experience: Experience must involve five years of experience in the following: building scalable and distributed cloud applications; building applications using cloud technologies; building applications with media capabilities; Java EE Web Application Technologies including JSP, Servlet, Seam, Spring, and JDBC; building applications with media encoding and streaming capabilities (audio and video); building applications using cloud platforms and technologies, including SAP Hana Cloud Platform and Amazon AWS; frameworks and APIs development; network protocols and network APIs; bytecode instrumentation for application performance profiling; development of BPMN and SOA event-driven applications; JMS messaging API; Ant, Maven and Gradle build systems; unit testing using TestNG and JUnit; working on the following application servers: Tomcat and JBoss; design patterns; and the software development life cycle.
