Vice President, SAP.iO Foundry Asia Pacific

Purpose Statement

The Vice President (VP), SAP.iO Foundries Asia Pacific is the lead for SAP.iO’s AP (including Greater China) startup program activities, including startup acceleration, and focuses on engaging both internal and external resources while executing on deliverables to ensure the success of SAP.iO Foundry startup programs and services offered to participating startups. The VP, SAP.iO Foundries Asia Pacific will instantiate local Foundries, hire key personnel to drive local Foundry execution, source mentors, help coordinate business unit and customer visits, and work with SAP and external PR, marketing, and legal teams for program promotion and success. The VP must also ensure success of major events such as “Demo Days” and help drive other external marketing events.

This position is based in Singapore, and reports to the Managing Director of SAP.iO.

Main Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Gain support internally across business units and with key executives, pro-actively looking for and championing ways that the SAP ecosystem, partners, and customers can help add value to the programs and startups

  • Lead and drive the instantiation of new SAP.iO Foundries in Asia Pacific (e.g., SAP.iO Foundry Tokyo), including

  • Building the business case for new Foundries

  • Hiring key personnel to drive local Foundry execution (Foundry Director, Foundry Program Manager, Foundry Community Manager)

  • Set up governance and local execution model in partnership with MU / BU sponsoring SAP.iO Foundry

  • Assist in the design and project management of the various SAP.iO Foundries Asia-Pacific programs (e.g., women entrepreneurs in B2B tech accelerator) including overseeing and driving the day-to-day operations in new locations

  • Act as a conduit for SAP and the startups by connecting, introducing, and leading resources and people to the program and those stakeholders involved

  • Drive final review of companies selected to participate and receive SAP.iO Foundry services (curated mentorship, exposure to SAP technologies, opportunities to collaborate with SAP customers)

  • Recruit external experts and internal mentors for the program, and ensure that they are engaged and supporting startups

  • Drive the development of “Demo Days” and coordinate executive participation to drive mentorship, customer introductions, and organizational support

  • Help coordinate activities with the broader SAP.iO organization, including other regional SAP.iO Foundry activities (e.g., SF, Berlin, Tel Aviv, New York, Paris)

  • Provide additional support for other areas of SAP.iO, including support for community engagement, deal sourcing, and input on SAP.iO Fund investments

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)/advanced degree or equivalent experience

  • Significant previous work with executives, key stakeholders, and business unit leaders (in a program management or venture role)

  • Deep understanding of how large corporations operate internally, their cultures, and what it takes to get things done when multiple business units and executives are involved

  • At least 8 years’ prior experience working on projects across business units and a demonstrated success interfacing across multiple divisions of the organization

  • The ability to quickly build relationships and convey influence when needed at all levels, in order to resolve conflicts and maintain direction

  • Deep understanding of emerging technologies and ability to evaluate the strategic impact for the organization

  • Effective written, verbal and presentation and communication skills at executive to project team levels

  • Self-motivated and proactive in the working environment; proven ability to work with speed and accuracy to deadlines is essential

  • Demonstrated track-record of fostering and helping innovations come to market

Key Measures

  • Programs delivered on time, quality and budget

  • Successful risk mitigation (delivery risks are identified and minimized before they become issues)

  • Provision of timely and effective information to all program stakeholders

  • Strategy and implementation of executive, business unit, and employee mentorship engagement with companies in the program

  • Number of cohort / program startups qualifying for AppCenter listing by building validated integrations to SAP solutions or consuming APIs

  • Volume of customer / partners interactions that result in meaningful opportunities for startups to work with customers (e.g., pilots) directly as a result of the program

  • Cohort NPS

  • Venture funding raised post-acceleration by startups participating in the SAP.iO Foundries Asia Pacific by external (i.e., non-SAP.iO) funding sources

Working Relationships and Team

  • This position requires close working cooperation throughout all teams and levels of the country, organizations, and vendors

  • The success of this position is based on effective teamwork within and outside of the department and with external entities
