Globalization Services (GS) – SAP Language Services (SLS) is responsible for translating all SAP products worldwide, including Corporate Content collateral and Global Marketing. SLS outsources the majority of its translation work to small and midsize translation service providers (also known as Language Suppliers). Internal SAP employees at SLS support this outsourcing strategy by providing a range of technical infrastructure and tools, planning information, quality guideline, and monitoring to enable Language Suppliers worldwide to deliver translation of nearly 40 languages.

We are looking for two (2) under graduate or post graduate students that would like to learn about and gain localization (focusing on language services) experiences through internship program at SAP. The internship would last 6 months, as minimum, with option to extend to one (1) year.

In your role, you will be working to provide operational support within the SAP product translation delivery teams. The teams in China handle translation requests of software User Interface and documentation for ERP, SET (Scale Enablement and Transformation), and SME (Small & Medium-size Enterprises) products. The service teams are located at major hubs in Canada, China, Germany, Ireland and Japan. You will work closely with the teams in China and Japan. In addition, you may have project-based opportunity to cooperate with SLS colleagues worldwide.

Objectives :

  • Learn SAP software localization process – focusing on languages

  • Support daily work of languages production and delivery, as well as, processes simplification and automation

  • Create and/or maintain process documentation related to production, delivery, and maintenance of languages

  • Perform spot-checks in translation systems to ensure quality of services delivered by language suppliers

  • Dispatch language related issues reported through central repository system by SAP customers or SAP internal product development teams to responsible SLS colleagues located in major hubs

  • Monitor and process requests reported through central repository system by SAP language suppliers worldwide

Requirements

  • Have education background in Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Information System Management with a strong logical thinking ability

  • Business level oral and written communication skills in English

  • Good MS Office-skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access and Outlook)

  • Presence of at least 4 days per week in office needed, preferably Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

  • Experience on Simplified Chinese translation and quality review is a plus.

  • Be patient, have strong interest in tasks which need many kinds of skills (interaction, logical thinking, solution design, customer support, Etc.).

  • Not looking for a pure technical job such as programmer.

主要职责:

  • 学习并掌握 SAP 软件本地化流程(语言服务方向)。

  • 配合翻译项目的日常工作,并支持相关流程的简化和自动化。

  • 编写和/或维护有关翻译项目管理的流程说明文档。

  • 在翻译系统内对提交的翻译进行抽检。

  • 将 SAP 客户或内部研发部门提交的语言相关问题分配给相应的 SLS 负责人(位于上述 SLS 主要办公地点)。

  • 监督并处理全球语言提供商借助内部平台提交的语言问题。

职位要求:

  • 理工科背景(如:电子工程学、计算机科学和/或信息系统管理),有较强的逻辑思维能力。

  • 沟通能力强,流利的英语口语及书写能力。

  • 熟练操作办公软件(PowerPoint、Word、Excel、Access 和 Outlook)。

  • 确保每周出勤率为 4 个工作日(周一、二、三、四为宜)。
