The Director of Commercial Operations Excellence is responsible to drive growth readiness of SAP Ariba’s commercial operations to ensure customer success and SAP Ariba’s achievement of business goals by 2020. The individual is responsible for all commercial process, policy and system related aspects of the business and develops programs which continuously improve SAP Ariba’s ability to scale.

The Director of Commercial Operations Excellence will report to the Head of Commercial Strategy & Operations in the Office of the COO, will act as partner to the COO, regional GMs and as trusted advisor to the entire SAP Ariba Leadership team.

Key responsibilities will include:

Area 1 – Drive Commercial Operations Excellence

  • Develop and implement programs and initiatives to scale and simplify commercial operations and processes at SAP Ariba

  • Lead, influence, and champion best practices and behaviors to re-inforce accountability for smooth end-to-end process execution

  • Enable business and sales stakeholder to leverage, adopt and adhere defined processes, guidelines and policies

  • Develop, implement and progress on SAP Ariba’s business integration roadmap into SAP

Area 2 – Champion Time-to-Paper Process & Customer Centricity

  • Offer commercial guidance and transactional support to the field and serve as key contact to regional GMs

  • Champion deal execution and orchestrate efforts across various commercial teams (CRM Support, Deal Desk, Contracts, Legal)

  • Act as the escalation path to help resolve commercial issues and transactional deal execution challenges

  • Provide solutions to system and/or tool challenges in close collaboration with GCO and SAP IT

Area 3 – Partner, Support & Manage SAP GCO Programs

  • Represent SAP Ariba in strategic GCO projects as SPOC and key stakeholder (e.g. Simplify Selling)

  • Drive and translate GCO programs deliverables and outcomes into SAP Ariba business processes

  • Work jointly with SAP Commercial Operations, GCO, Finance and IT in strategic programs as SAP Ariba representative and project member

  • Act as interface between the broader F&A community and the Ariba business to safeguard close collaboration

The individual will

  • Contributes to and influences business strategy by providing strategic feedback, decisions and insight to executive management

  • Externally and internally recognized as a noted authority in your field , which is accompanied by broad business knowledge

  • Defines standards and leading-edge best practices in own area of expertise across the organization

  • Drives continuous improvement and break-through results related to products, services and processes

  • Proactively shares knowledge and expertise to help others to develop and grow (cross-LoB knowledge roll-in and roll-out)

  • Coaches/ engages/ mentors others

Experience & Educational Requirements

Experience & Language Requirements

  • Experience: 10 years of working experience in Finance, Operations, Planning, Business Development and/or Management Consulting.

  • Strong expertise in SAP’s CRM, Q2C and commercial processes

  • Strong background of (SaaS) Commercial Operations, Pricing and Finance/Accounting

  • Procurement know-how would be beneficial

  • Languages: English: Fluent, Spanish: Fluent, German is a plus

  • Global background is a plus to effectively interact with global audience and different cultures

  • Ability to build relationships and quickly develop trust with C-Level executives

  • Exceptional analytical and technical skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills including collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and persuasion.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required

  • MBA or equivalent degree required from accredited university preferred
