The mission of the Global Business Development & Ecosystems (GBDE) organization is to fuel growth and success for customers, partners, and SAP by capitalizing on external sources of innovation and capability most vital to our strategic goals. As part of this mission, the team drives M&A and strategic partnerships most vital for SAP’s future success, focusing on topics with broad, cross-organization implications and working as “One SAP” to achieve positive outcomes from holistic engagement across Board areas.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The Director/Senior Director of Ecosystem Insights will report to the COO of GBDE. The overall purpose of this role is to establish, operate, and drive ongoing enhancement to a new GBDE ecosystem intelligence function.
This role will support GBDE partner managers, business development professionals, center of expertise members, and leadership with ongoing and ad hoc services to address the following needs:
Enable development of compelling, credible business cases for new co-innovation and go-to-market initiatives by providing data and analysis of addressable market/install base for specific partner initiatives.
Support focused, surgical account targeting for GTM initiatives by identifying specific accounts of relevance for go-to-market sales motions.
Inform partner portfolio decisions by synthesizing diverse sources of information regarding partner capabilities, investments, strategies, and alliances, tapping into inputs from CMI, partner business managers, and other external/internal data.
Identify relevant industry players in targeted market domains, including potential partners, acquisition targets, and/or competitors, and support POV development with insights from external and internal sources of data
Conduct analysis and reporting to support M&A success, including pipeline analysis (e.g., to assess potential for attaching acquired solutions to existing sales motions) and revenue/bookings analysis (e.g., to assess business risk if prospective acquisitions involve products that overlap with existing SAP solutions, or to track GTM performance of acquisitions).
Deliver ongoing partner profiling - define standard deliverables useful for briefing partner business managers, GBDE leadership, and top management on the business profile and key developments with individual named partners; determine best way to regularly generate and deliver briefing updates to stakeholders, leveraging CMI, external research, and/or third party providers as appropriate.
Specific responsibilities of this role include the following:
Identify and prioritize needs by engaging with diverse set of stakeholders who will consume ecosystem insight services
Define a roadmap of services to address stakeholder needs
Identify and obtain access to appropriate internal and external data sources to meet intelligence-gathering needs
Execute specific services/deliverables and package them into repeatable approaches and standardized deliverables that lend themselves to execution by junior resources
Supervise the efforts of others as appropriate to ensure quality, and coach junior resources to build capability for increasing levels of insight generation.
Continually evolve the portfolio of intelligence services to incorporate best practices, enhance efficiency and effectiveness, and deliver additional value and insights to stakeholders across GBDE.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Master’s degree in Business or related field a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with business/data analysis; adept with spreadsheets and comfortable dealing with data, summarizing for management audiences, and drawing conclusions from it
Ability to multi-task across multiple projects simultaneously
Self-starter; works well independently; acute attention to detail
Ability to relate and communicate well to people at all levels of the organization, virtually and in-person
Willingness to adapt to changing situations, and ability to think outside of the box
Comfortable with sharing opinions and proposing alternative solutions in collaborative situations
10 years of business experience, with preference for backgrounds that include market intelligence, strategic planning, management consulting, marketing, partner management, and/or business development.
