PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

Cloud Infrastructure Services is the CORE of SAP’s cloud success. We are supporting SAP’s transformation into the leading enterprise application cloud service provider by delivering non-stop services for all required cloud technologies running at petabyte scale of compute memory in 45 data centers around the globe.

The Compute and Platform Delivery organization (CPD) within Cloud Infrastructure Services is responsible for providing 24/7 cloud infrastructure and operations support managing hypervisor, bare metal and operating system support for SAP’s IaaS cloud platforms based on industry leading technologies including VMware, OpenStack, Cisco, Netapp, HPE, DELL-EMC and others.

To cope with the continued immense growth in cloud and increase our delivery quality towards ZERO Outage, we are looking for an experienced program / project manager to help us manage Work in Progress and focus on getting things done. In this role you will work directly in the global CPD management team and be responsible for managing a portfolio of multiple complex and large-scale technology projects of high volume or high risk and / or exceptional challenges in project structure as well as continuous improvement activities.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Manage the Work in Progress across all units within CPD under tight timelines and continuously create transparency on the global CPD service and key objectives portfolio

  • Establish and manage the CPD Project Portfolio and help the teams to focus on seamless execution

  • Develop project management standards and work with our central strategy and governance team to establish full transparency in ongoing programs, projects and continuous improvement activities

  • Identify and manage project interdependencies

  • Identify and eradicate sources of unplanned work

  • Converts proven best practices into sustainable standards for own area of expertise

  • Communicate with senior executive leadership

  • Run own projects / improvement task forces within CPDs scope where required

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required Skills:

  • Master degree in Business Administration, Communication, Information Technology

  • Fluent language skills in English and German (written and spoken) is a must

  • Profound knowledge of project management methodologies such as Scrum/Agile, PMP or Prince2, as well as knowledge of Lean Methodologies, Business Case and Business Canvas

  • Excellent technical understanding of infrastructure technologies and data center operations

  • strong team player in a diverse and multi-cultural environment, with a High level of flexibility, integrity and confidentiality

  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to keep track of tasks, responsibilities and deadlines

  • Strong ability to prioritize and deliver quickly with high sense of responsibility and quality

  • Analytical skills and creativity in solving complex challenges

  • Self-Driven, Get-things-done mindset, communicative and stress-resistant personality

Preferred skills:

  • Customer-focused, good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience as project lead in a global delivery unit

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years experience in project and program management or any functional lead role

  • Broad experience in successfully leading complex technology projects with high impact and visibility

  • Minimum a high-level technical understanding of generic cloud platform infrastructure and hypervisor, bare metal server, storage and network operations
