There is an incredible transformation happening in global business travel today. Industry data shows that 40-50% of employee business travel is booked outside of corporate travel systems, and this number will likely go up over time. This poses a major challenge for travel managers: If they don’t have visibility into these bookings, they cannot enforce policy or ensure the safety of their traveling employees.
Concur is solving this problem by extending the value of corporate travel programs to all travel and enabling the capture of 100% of travel reservations, no matter where they are booked. In this role, you will directly contribute to the success of Concur by leading the Itinerary Services team on the journey to be the single source of truth about travel plans. You will integrate across the entire suite of Concur’s products (e.g., Online Booking Tool, Pre-trip Approval Request Tool, TripIt, Hipmunk, and Expense), integrate with major travel suppliers (e.g., United Airlines, American Airlines, Marriott, Starwood, Hyatt), and help innovate how business travel is managed in an industry that is becoming increasingly more complex. You will directly contribute to Concur’s vision of the Perfect Trip and the Expense Report That Writes Itself by being a key point of integration between Concur Travel and Concur Expense
As a Senior Product Manager, Itinerary Services you will be driving the transformation of our Itinerary Services into a unified store for all itineraries regardless of where they were booked to revolutionize how corporate travel is managed in a world that is becoming increasingly more complex.
In the first 12 months you will deliver:
Product innovation: You will support high visibility and strategic product innovations that are critical to our clients and partners. Itinerary Services is on the critical path of almost every major innovation which guarantees that this role is always working on the most important projects at Concur.
Engineering and operational excellence: You will help define the vision for Itinerary Services and guide the team through a re-architecture to enable that vision.
Data quality improvements: You will define and execute concrete strategies to measure and improve data quality. Travel plans come from many sources that use different standards. Sometimes the same piece of travel will be represented in multiple systems. Representing that data correctly to users requires a vigilant and methodical approach.
In order to accomplish this, you will need to:
Drive the long-term vision, influence externally and internally at all levels, and secure buy-in. Develop long term product strategy (18-month roadmap), and clear and actionable 30/60/90 day plans in an agile environment.
You will champion easier integration of third-party partners with Concur’s public Itinerary API and be passionate about external documentation that can be consumed by developers at third-party partners, e.g., Swagger.
Develop a deep understanding of existing integrations of Concur’s suite of products with Itinerary Services and drive meaningful improvements.
Extend Itinerary Services to store all things related to a trip as the foundation of product innovation such as meetings-based search.
Work with development teams to make agile trade-offs between backlog items and support issues, and to overcome technical constraints.
