Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks

Is responsible for complex and large-scale development projects of high volume or high risk and/or exceptional challenges in project structure. Is responsible for complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Works as program manager.

If acting as a Scrum Master in the context of LEAN he/she is responsible that LEAN methodologies are understood and put into practice properly. Works closely with (Chief) Product Owner and Product Team and is responsible for delivery aspects of a project /program.

Has the profound project and/or program management knowledge and actively use the project management methodologies. Observes, evaluates, and introduces new Project Management concepts, processes, and technologies Internally and cross-department recognized as a project management expert. Acts as a role model and lives the LEAN/agile concepts if acting as Scrum Master.

Acts as role model for team members from Associate to Senior level; gives feedback on skill development and training.

Tasks

  • Manages a classical project or delivery program and ensures project/program execution and delivery according to project/program specific goals

  • In the context of LEAN projects: is scrum master of a product team; in projects with internal deliveries might have product or service delivery responsibility

  • Applies proven (e.g. PMI, LDM) project management methodologies: Project Planning, Scheduling, Leading Teams without formal authority, Risk-, Change- and Conflict Management, Project Communication and Monitoring, Commitment Management

  • Acts on (senior) management level: manages inbound and outbound communication, monitors development progress and execution of project KPIs, provides input for risk mitigations, has prime presentation skills

  • Manages stakeholder actively: provides transparency on project/program status, ensures timely escalation, manages dependencies, initiates regular stakeholder satisfaction assessments (e.g. surveys)

  • Is an expert in his field and internally recognized as a noted authority; continuously grows and stays ahead of trends in his field and contributes to area strategy in alignment with SAP strategic priorities

  • Represents SAP to customers and external partners

  • Coaches project manager with less experience. Proactively share knowledge, expertise and best practices in coaching situations

  • Converts proved best practices into sustainable standards for own area of expertise

  • Drives and promotes continuous improvement by initiating and leading retrospectives and forwarding impediments into the CIP process

Experience & Language Requirements

  • Active participation in projects and programs

  • English – business fluent

Education

  • Master degree or equivalent education

  • Practical experience in leading development projects

  • Project Management Details

  • Project Management education by certified PM organization or similar

  • Lean Methodologies

  • Business Case and Business Canvas Knowhow
