Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks

The Principal Business Consultant role is an active role that is customer focused and presents challenges. The position requires a combination of strategic and practical experience. The consultant needs to have capabilities in the following areas 

  • Independent execution of projects 

  • Leads a functional or business related community 

  • Contributes on various sales bids, including RFPs and demand generation 

  • Conducts basic value-based business cases for customers

Leadership 

  • Act as a Coach and role model for more junior colleagues 

  • Leads customer executives (indirect leadership) during project execution as well as in Sales cycles (consultative selling)

Advisory / Delivery 

  • Responsible for own and project team capacity utilization / KPIs and overall indirect leadership of team 

  • Evaluate, map and make proposals to align enterprise & IT architecture to fit the customer’s strategy 

  • Independent execution of complex projects or programs/deliverables

  • Different areas of roles involved

  • Demonstrating active leadership 

Sales 

  • Drive business development and support license & services sales in alignment with SAP ONE Service strategy 

Thought Leadership / Innovation 

  • Contribute to a functional or business related community or practice, ideally leading such a work group 

Experience & Language Requirements

Work Experience:

  • 8 - 10 years’ consulting experience (or equivalent business expertise)

Specialized Expertise: 

  • Expert in at least one industry (Business Expert) 

  • Expert in at least one line of business 

  • Expert in (Digital) Business Transformation topics: BPM, Enterprise Architecture, Organizational Change Management, Value Management, Project/Program Management, Innovation Management, Strategic Roadmaps, Cloud Transformation, TCO, Digital Transformation, Internet of Things (IoT) etc. 

  • Value Management best related to industry expertise & LoB

Managerial Expertise 

  • Functional coordination of large teams (internal, external, virtual) 

  • Act as a coach for colleagues, partners & customers

SAP Specific Expertise

  • Overall SAP Corporate Strategy and SAP Product Strategy Knowledge Knowledge of the latest SAP Strategy (for example 2015 Digital Transformation Whitepaper) and their related pillars including the capability to discuss this with the customer

SAP Product Knowledge Advanced knowledge of: 

  • SAP Product Portfolio (on premise and cloud solutions, S/4HANA) / SAP standard solution and service offerings 

  • SAP Next Generation solutions and services (e.g. S/4HANA, Fiori (Mobility, UX), Cloud) 

  • Industry Solutions (in related industry area) 

  • SAP Product Roadmap (in related industry area)

Methodologies & Standards 

  • Where applicable, project management methodologies and standards (PMI/PMBOK, PRINCE2 etc.) 

  • Where applicable Enterprise Architecture Frameworks, like TOGAF / SAP Architecture 

  • Where applicable Business Process Management Methodologies 

  • (e.g. BPR (Business Process Reengineering), TQM (Total Quality Management), Balanced Scorecard, Six Sigma)
