The SAP Hybris Cloud Services Engineering organization is seeking a committed Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) . The SRE incorporates aspects of software engineering and applies them to operations whose goals are to create ultra-scalable and highly reliable software systems reducing manual intervention.
As SRE, we foster the collaboration with the developers across the application and platform layers to optimize operations for SAP Hybris cloud services.
As SRE, we drive continuous improvement and qualities of the services and tools and implement automation together with the SAP Hybris Cloud Services development teams.
As SRE, we own process standardization for incident management and operations.
As SRE, we do initial analysis in case of an incident, fix problems if possible, coordinate incident management across the layers and development teams.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
The role will include the following responsibilities:
Develop tools and advanced automation features that continuously reduce the need for manual intervention
Automate the deployment and monitoring of the assigned SAP Hybris cloud services across all the relevant infrastructures (private and public cloud)
Perform troubleshooting to quickly resolve the issues per documented procedures
Document root cause analysis reports and develop standard operating procedures
Provide knowledge management in the team and between operations and development
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Fluency in English – verbal and written
Development background in Java or other object-oriented language, or advanced scripting skills (Python, Ruby, Bash) and/or solid understanding of Linux systems fundamentals and system management tasks
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Willingness to continuously learn new technologies and methodologies
Effective team player to be able to work closely with peers and remote teams
In addition, experience with one or more of the followings:
Hands-on experience with using or developing for automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet)
Hands-on experience with using or developing for monitoring tools
Hands-on experience with using debugging tools
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Experience maintaining web servers, application servers and middleware tools
Solid understanding of network concepts, TCP/IP stack and common Internet protocols
Familiarity with virtualization & containerization
Minimum 3 years of experience developing in Java or Python (or other object-oriented language)
Minimum 2 years of experience working within a Linux environment
Hands-on technical experience of managing virtualized or containerized landscapes/environments in a production setting
Prior experience working with Java/J2EE applications is a plus
Prior experience working with public IaaS providers is an asset
