SAP Presales Lab Engineer Job in Madrid, Spain

The Presales Lab Engineer is a member of the EMEA Presales Lab, a team who makes the difference in the sales

cycle by creating personalized, innovative and engaging end-to-end buying experiences for EMEA strategic

customers. He/she possesses advanced knowledge of SAP innovative software solutions and participates in the

sales cycle as a member of the virtual account team in support of the sales account strategy.

In this position the Presales Lab Engineer interacts with prospective customers through executive meetings,

discovery conversations, solution demonstrations, executive presentations and follow-up discussions and is in

charge of making digital real for EMEA strategic customers. He/she creates Internet of Things / innovative use

cases and demo scenarios and builds mobile apps, dashboards, interactive scale models, animated dashboards,

3D models, etc. to turn demos and customer meetings into personalized, innovative and engaging experiences.

He/she aligns with the Presales Lab Creative Designers and Demo Experience Specialists to ensure a consistent

Wow! effect during the meeting experience and beyond. 70% of his/her time is spent on local opportunities

and tasks and 30% of his/her time is shared with other Market Units in EMEA.

work with the largest EMEA customers on the most strategic opportunities, to develop a unique blend of

technical skills, creativity and customer-centricity and to gain exposure and expand his/her network and

personal brand within and outside of SAP.


Build with the support of Solution Experience or other internal (Consulting, Labs…) and external teams

(agencies, partners…) personalized, innovative and engaging demo (mobile apps and dashboards) and

presentation assets (interactive scale models, 3D models, animated dashboard…) to make innovative use

cases tangible and convincing for our customers and prospects and to showcase the unique value of our

platform and our natural integration.

Conduct discovery sessions with representatives from the prospective customer and build customer

intimacy to understand their perspective and to create together with the VAT innovative use cases and

demo scenarios.

Compose and deliver superior sales presentations leveraging the demo and presentation assets that were

built to share the innovative use cases that were created and help customers touch / visualize how they

can transform their business through technology.

Develop digital tools (gamified offline demos, interactive meeting tools…) to further enhance the different

end-to-end toolkits developed to support the personalization of the end-to-end customer buying journey.

Collaborate with the Presales Lab Creative Designer to create a consistent and personalized customer

universe for every strategic customer and leverage it for both demo and presentation assets.

Collaborate with the Demo Experience Specialist to leverage standard or existing demo scenarios and

standard or ad hoc demo environments to maximize efficiency and time to value when building new demo


Build with sharing in mind from the very beginning. Every asset should be user-centered and built for

reuse. Every asset should be delivered with a one-pager to promote it to Presales across Market Units and

regions, setup instructions and a complete demo scenario spelling out clearly the value for the customer or

prospect. Work with the local EBC if any and the local Marketing team to drive reuse.

Attend demo and presentation dry runs regularly in the local Market Unit to give feedbacks but also to

collect first-hand experience on how the demos and models are used and presented and improve future


Qualify, share and foster reusability in EMEA of Solution Experience and other regions’ innovative demos

and assets. Research new trends and technologies. Explore the next generation of digital gadgets and tools

to use them when building demo and presentation assets. Proactively drive the sharing of demos and

assets within the Presales community via articles in newsletters, events, Jam posts, presentations, social


Travel will be required, up to 20%.


Bachelor's or Master’s Degree

Excellent English both written and spoken

The ideal candidate must present a mix of capabilities. He/she should:

Have a background in software engineering and have worked on mobile apps and know web development

tools. He/she should be hands-on with both software and hardware and be able to develop software


Be up-to-date on technology trends and possess a sound technical understanding. He/she should have an

affinity to fiddle with electronics, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, sensors. He/she should have the mindset of a

"maker" and have some experience with the Internet of Things.

Have experience in more than one language and have experience in a number of the following tools /

technologies: C, JavaScript, HTML coding, Web Application Toolkit, Adobe CS6, AutoCAD, Blender,

Cheetah3D, SolidWorks…

Possess good listening skills and a certain level of business acumen to be able to step in the shoes of our

customers, discover business opportunities and problems and see how technology can be applied to create

human meaning and value.

Possess a general understanding of SAP’s strategy and organization and of the IT industry and be curious

and a fast learner. He/she should be keen to learn new skills and open-minded. His/her curiosity goes hand

in hand with a natural creativity and an ability to come up with and test innovative ideas.

Have a record of taking initiative (self-started) and driving tangible results. He/she should be proactive and

hands-on, solution-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work well in a fast-paced and dynamic matrix organization. He/she is able to deliver high quality results on

time. He/she must be able to prioritize as well as pay attention to details.

Be able to work effectively as part of virtual and global teams, dealing with complex organization

relationships in a collaborative manner and drive results through personal influence thanks to his/her great

interpersonal and communication skills.

Thrive on developing others by connecting people and sharing knowledge. He/she should in particular

always have in mind the format in which whatever he/she develops or discovers will in turn be proactively

shared with the wider EMEA Presales community.


The position requires 5 to 7 years of experience within the software industry. The skills described here above

are likely to have been developed with a functional background in Development, Consulting or Presales.
