EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

SAP Security Research’s objective is to understand new basic principles in research, analyze the business value for SAP, refine the method and adapt them for SAP. By building prototypes and blueprints for productization, we support the SAP development teams to consume the research results.

Today, many companies do not migrate to the cloud, because of security concerns. Data might get leaked, stolen or a government might force cloud providers to hand over the data. We want to investigate how Trusted Hardware, e.g., Intel SGX, can be used to protect specific parts of applications to overcome these concerns. The focus lies on the protected execution of database functionalities, but the work is not restricted to this field. With the support of the supervisor, the student should develop a concept, implement the idea in C and create an exhaustive evaluation.

The topics are updated over time and subject to individual discussion. Some topics could potentially provide a basis for a Master’s thesis.

We can offer an internship with flexible length, but we recommend at least 6 months. The topics can alternatively be processed in the scope of a master’s thesis.

  • Student with a Bachelor’s degree presently enrolled in Computer Science or a related program
