Business Industry Architect (Business / Industry / Cloud) - Utilities

Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks

Generic:

  • Understands the as-is situation and goals of a customer for a broad area holistically (e.g. industry, LoB), can translate it into an appropriate business-driven IT-roadmap and design (processes, applications, systems) based on SAP’s offerings, with a clear focus on customer success.

  • Provide customers with a strategic perspective on leveraging technology innovation to enhance their business performance.

  • Develop and package sales strategies and engagement best practices that provide SAP differentiation and excite the customer.

  • Operationalizes the customers’ business strategies, identifies relevant components, approaches, input required, etc. to derive the best possible solution for the customer combining public and private cloud as well as OnPremise scenarios.

  • Clarifies existing expectations from various stakeholders with the customer; creates a path to solution which integrates diverse points of views and which serves as a starting point for future business. Collaborates with customer / SAP team for the best possible implementation.

  • Drives knowledge management and innovation activities based on this experience with customers. Documents successful approaches, tools etc. and makes them available to colleagues at SAP.

  • Collaborates and co-innovates with the respective development teams

Specifically, the Principal Architect focusing on Industry Utilities;

  • Should have very good understanding and solution architecting abilities in the core IS-Utilities functionalities and proven expertise of multiple sub-modules

  • Very sound knowledge in CRM and Utilities Data model, CRM web UI configuration, CRM and Utilities integration, Utilities Customer Service, Contract Management, Interaction center, Financial customer care, Customer fact sheet, CRM baseline configuration and Middleware

  • Should have a deep understanding/ business process knowledge of Utilities Industries

  • Support validating Go-To-Market approaches for new functionality, processes and service proposition for Utilities SAP customers

  • Position our solution and delivery experience with new and existing customers &discuss with customer’s different architecture approaches considering commercial implications.

  • Should be able to contribute on solution Proposals and efforts estimations.

  • Take ownership of defined portions of a project deal, including the analysis, authoring and estimation of a solution.

  • Should have excellent communication suitable for leading customer facing engagements and good with documentation and general Office tools

  • Domain experience in electricity, gas or water utilities industries will be added advantage

  • CRM certification is added advantage

Experience and Other Requirements

Domain expertise: Should have good understanding of Utilities industries domain. Should have a keen understanding of the industry trends and the solution trends supporting the industry changes. Should be able to relate to SAP’s solution portfolio changes relevant to the industry.

Solution expertise: Should have at least 3 end-to-end implementations (CRM/IS-U implementation project experience) with experience in leading solutions, tracks and people. Solution expertise in the areas of IS-Utilities are expected with certifications.

Industry Solution Competency and Thought Leadership: Design & oversee development of re-usable objects / consulting packages, contribute to enhancing/ articulating the knowledge management process within the industry - create business best practices, process flows and templates where necessary.

Soft skills: Clear and articulate communication. Excellent verbal, communication and board/executive level presentation skills. Business development and program/project management skills are mandatory.

You are expected to optimize the customer’s project by ensuring maximized usage of the SAP Standard Product and proposing a custom solution that is sustainable and maintainable. In the early stages of qualification and engagement, a Solution Architect must possess the ability to rapidly develop solution concepts, an overall vision of the “art-of-the-possible”. During formal evaluations, a Solution Architect acts as the team lead, must closely collaborate with Development Architects, delegate ownership and responsibility for various solution elements to the Development Architects, facilitates interaction and collaboration with the customer and acts as the “primary voice” of the team to the account team and the customer.

Experience & Educational Requirements

  • University degree resp. adequate experience

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) from reputed institutes preferred, although not mandatory

  • SAP Industry Solutions knowledge (specifically IS- U) as Industry (end-to-end) solution architect expert

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, including ability to rapidly gather data, structure hypotheses, and develop synthesized findings/recommendations

  • Must be able to qualify, define and estimate development efforts for projects ranging from Small to Extra Large

  • Strong team orientation and ability to thrive in virtual, international, cross-functional teams

  • Act pro-actively and success-driven, with a “can do” attitude

  • Bring the ability to understand and explain complex technical environments, at the same time reducing complexity

  • Show strong leadership and coaching skills

  • Innovative and willing to leave old paths behind

  • Minimum Job Experience: 10-12 Years. Thereof in a relevant position at SAP: 5-8 Years [SAP/IS-U domain]

  • Training & Certification Recommendation (added advantage);

Certifications - SAP Certified Professional Enterprise Architect (SAPA200), The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), ITIL certification

Trainings - Design Thinking, Industry specific / cross topic trainings

Location: India (Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi)

Travel: 60-80 % within MU.
